Clear Sky Recruitment have been appointed as the recruiter of choice for an established software house based in Blackburn. On their behalf we are recruiting a Business Development Manager

We are looking to recruit a talented Business Development Manager initially to act as the liaison between our Marketing and Sales teams.

To begin with your role will be to seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers. You will use your communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with customers and to deliver fully qualified Sales leads to the New Business Team. Once proven then you will progress to managing own leads through the full sales cycle, from first contact through to deal closure.

  • Pre-qualify inbound leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities
  • Use multiple outbound sales techniques via telephone, email, social media, live chat, video and trade shows to prospect, build and nurture a network of business contacts and accounts
  • Present our company to potential clients
  • Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services
  • Set up qualified meetings or calls between (prospective) clients and Account Executives
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with clients
  • Shadow Sales at customer-facing meetings
  • Manage, track and report on all activities and results using Salesforce CRM
  • Be pro-active in self-development from both a product and industry perspective


  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ERP Software and/or the Construction Industry
  • Proven work experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
  • Track record of achieving sales quotas
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM software
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Quick learner, always looking to embrace and master new technologies
  • Ability to multitask and work independently, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker
  • Willingness to experiment - even if something doesn't work, be prepared to learn from your failures
  • Must be extremely customer centric, service oriented and sales minded
  • Technologically savvy with an ability to learn new technology fast
  • Working to realistic targets
  • Exceptional written and telephone communications skills
  • Desire to progress professionally with the support of management
  • Full driving license


  • Basic Salary up to £30k depending on experience plus commission
  • Holidays 28 days per year inc Bank Holidays rising to 25 within 5 years
