We're looking for someone who can provide a technically credible and highly respected approach to developing internal audit strategy. In this role, you will plan audit activity linked to the audit universe. You will be accountable for the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of internal audit methodologies, practices, and tools. You will also drive the design and execution of functional governance, risk management and internal controls, and analytics roadmap to enable a highly efficient and effective function.

What you'll need today

To make sure you're set up for success you'll already have these skills and experience:

  • A deep knowledge of the development and implementation of audit methodologies and tools
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors' guidance on enhancing the overall effectiveness of Internal Audit
  • A clear appreciation of the regulatory environment, key risks and issues faced by retail banks, and the underlying operational drivers within which TSB operates
  • Proven stakeholder management skills
  • Extensive experience of implementing and embedding audit analytics tools, skills and methodology
  • Technical expertise and general gravitas, of all key stakeholders and colleagues

  • Lead the definition, implementation and embedding of Internal Audit's strategic vision.
  • Drive the development of leading-edge capability in IA's people, processes, systems and tools, including the delivery of first rate training for IA colleagues.
  • Build powerful relationships with all colleagues to influence IA strategy and policy and continuously improve IA methodologies, procedures, working practices and standards by providing insight, challenge and thought leadership.
  • Create a leading and independent Quality Assurance function that assesses the execution of the IA methodology, meaningfully challenges colleague performance and ensures IA opinions are adequately evidenced; reports results of assessments to CAO and Audit Committee; designs training to support continuous colleague improvement.
  • Lead the development of a risk-based audit plan that includes a wide ranging and complex portfolio of audit projects and provides the flexibility to reprioritise in the light of unplanned events.
  • Gain added value from professional services firms used in co-source arrangements by putting in place the mechanisms required to transfer leading edge knowledge to audit colleagues.
