Basic Job Function:
Lead the efforts of the Rooms Division for the Housekeeping operations at The Inn. Work with the Innkeeper to develop and execute a strategic plan for raising the level of service and create efficiency within the Housekeeping Department. Uphold and assure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements: Proven leadership and service experience in an upscale hotel and/or resort, with concentration within the housekeeping function Minimum two (1) year experience in a Housekeeping Supervisor role at comparable hotel property (quality, size, rate structure, amenities) Strong understanding of housekeeping and cleanliness standards (in a 4-star environment, preferred but not required) High School Diploma or equivalent credentials College graduate or hospitality degree preferred Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office software applications such as: Word, Excel, and Outlook Knowledge in property management systems, POS systems, budgeting and planning platforms is desired Proficient with peripherals, copier, fax, telephone and calculator International experience and foreign languages preferred CPR certification preferred First Aid certification preferred Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively Must be detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to easily adapt to organizational and environmental changes Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in compliance with company Dress Code Policy
Tasks/Responsibilities: Along with the Housekeeping Manager, leads and manages the Housekeeping Department at The Inn Ensures housekeeping cleanliness standards are met and/or exceeded Support Service Quality training efforts to drive individual and collective staff development Guide, coach, counsel, develop and inspire direct reports in a leadership role which promotes teamwork and enhances the overall service experience and maximizes productivity Attend and/or lead designated daily, weekly and/or monthly meetings as needed Assist with performance evaluations & reviews for department staff Maintain accurate linen inventory of rooms and linen closets and ensure that all linens are delivered and picked up on time Supervise and assist with deep cleaning Responsible for overseeing units for inspections and service in a timely manner ensuring rooms are ready by check in Inspect cleanliness of all rooms to ensure company standards Maintain written inspection reports of all rooms(maintenance items) Maintain written inspection forms on each subordinate (job performance) Provide clear and concise feedback to subordinate concerning job performance Assist in the creation, planning and implementation of department programs, procedures and employee goals Responsible for one on one meeting with employees to review job and goals performance Responsible for coaching and counseling employees on job performance Responsible for updating the Office Coordinator on room status Maintain accurate guest information in the Opera system Maintain accurate files Assist in maintaining accurate and up to date Task Inventory and Breakdowns per position Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members Ensure all subordinates are in accordance with grooming standards and dress code policies on a daily basis Ensure all lost and found items are handled according to policy Assist in establishing and maintaining recognition programs Assist the department in reaching financial goals Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues), giving information to admin support if computer access is not available Maintain thorough knowledge of current GPRs and follow-up on issues as needed Follow up on Guest/member issues as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
Physical Requirements: Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards Maintain compliance with Company Resort Professional Image Policy
