Policy Business Lead UK Non-Departmental Public Body £64,033 per annum (negotiable) Brighton (Hybrid) Your new companyHays is working with a UK Non-Departmental Public Body who are looking to recruit a Policy Business Lead to join their Regulatory Policy, Analysis and Advice division on a permanent basis. The organisation is based in Brighton and the successful candidate will be expected to come into the office on a hybrid basis.Your new roleAs Policy Business Lead you will:

  • Take output from strategy and new & emerging issues and be responsible for the development and delivery of the appropriate policy response in a demanding leadership role with consequences across other teams within the organisation.
  • Act internally and externally as a thought leader on key policy issues, keeping up to date with developments within industry and anticipating future developments. Speak at major conferences.
  • Develop effective relationships internally and externally up to organisation board and with other strategically important stakeholders. Understand the risk and opportunities, and to leverage those relationships to deliver our policy objectives.
  • Mentor and lead a team of Delivery leads who are delivering individual policy workstreams providing support and enabling tools from across the business.

What you'll need to succeedThis is a fantastic opportunity for a policy professional with:

  • Experience of delivering complex policy change within a government or similar regulatory policy-making environment, including complex delivery.
  • Experience of leading high performing teams and/or leadership qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience of building strong relationships and ability to leverage these to influence across senior levels to deliver policy objectives.
  • An excellent ability to think strategically, setting long term goals and objectives in line with strategic priorities.
  • An excellent ability to build a policy narrative and sell vision at the most senior levels and in public fora.
  • Ability to identify and channel external thought leadership and innovation into strategy and policy making.
  • Resilience to challenge at a senior level and able to robustly defend policy positions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills- written and oral. Comfortable with presenting at major conferences.
  • An ability to undertake highly unstructured work, be innovative and creative, and continually learn.
  • Knowledge of policy making, risk analysis, regulation and legislative process.
  • Knowledge of the pensions regulatory framework, broader financial services and political landscape (desirable)
