  • Support the collection and analysis of tax preparation data, processing all tax-related bills, invoices, and payments.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliation of tax-related balance sheet accounts, assisting with monthly and year-end close procedures for tax-related accounts.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated payment calculations for state and local income taxes to assist with cash forecasting.
  • For interim, year-end, and/or ad hoc forecasts for reporting purposes, prepare separate tax computations and analyses.
  • Assist with required tax reporting calculations and projections.
  • Provide guidance, support, and review with the departments during the information gathering process. Ensure compliance with SOX guidelines.
  • Accumulate data required for indirect tax audits. Under guidance of the Tax Manager/Director, meet with state auditors on-site or virtually. Draft written responses to tax authorities on notices received regarding tax amounts in dispute.
  • Research tax issues to assist in determining proper treatment with respect to products and services sold and bought by the company and its managed hotels to conform with relevant regulations.
  • Occasionally review the work of and provide guidance to staff level tax analysts.
  • Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to appropriate personnel.

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency.
  • Must be familiar with GAAP Accounting and have a strong understanding of the general ledger process.
  • 2-4 years progressive work-related experience in state tax with a Big-4 public accounting firm or equivalent in industry, with demonstrated proficiency and understanding in one or more functions related to the position. Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing tax information to hotel employees, guests, vendors, corporate staff, and senior management.
