Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a state certified residential (or higher) appraisal license
  • Ability to meet the minimum supervisor requirements for years of appraisal experience per state regulations
  • Geographic competence in your market area for at least 2 years
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with internal and external customers

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of direct field experience as a licensed/certified appraiser
  • Previous experience training and mentoring team members
  • Proficiency in Alamode and/or ACI appraisal software
  • Proficiency in latest technology in the appraisal industry
  • Knowledge of GSE, FHA guidelines and applicable state requirements
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to integrate appraisal theory along with industry standard practices and techniques to arrive at a recommended approach
  • Residential and FHA-approved appraiser certification
  • Proficiency with all appraisal types, including single family, condominium, multifamily, manufactured home, REO and desk/field reviews

Job Summary

As a Senior Team Appraiser, you'll estimate property values by providing appraisals on one- to four-unit residential properties. In this role, you'll research and analyze property information, reconcile various indicators and prepare appraisal reports. You'll also be responsible for mentoring and developing staff appraisal trainees until they are fully licensed.

To perform this role, you must be certified and eligible to train trainees in the state of Texas. Coverage areas include the following counties: Harris, Bexar, Montgomery, Collin, Travis, and Tarrant counties.

  • Ensure appraisals are procured, documented and processed in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, requirements and company regulations
  • Maintain licenses or state certifications to perform the duties of an appraiser and notify the company of any changes in the status of their licenses or state certifications
  • Schedule appraisals
  • Ensure appraisals are procured, documented and processed in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, USPAP and company regulations
  • Maintain and improve the company's appraisal quality and production
  • Review and analyze appraisal reports of outside fee vendors for efficiency of their value conclusions, adherence to technical appraisal theory and methodology governing residential real estate and adherence to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice
  • Assist the Vice President of Collateral Risk with ongoing audits
  • Analyze data, draw sound conclusions and summarize results in a clear and coherent fashion
  • Stay up to date on state mandated courses and trainings required for individuals in a senior or supervisor appraisal role as required by the Appraisal Qualifications Board
  • Train and develop staff appraiser trainees in their specific skills and knowledge until they are fully licensed
  • Provide coaching and/or feedback in a manner best suited for a particular situation or concern
